OSU Vice Provost for Extension & Engagement, Director of OSU Extension

Dr. Kristopher Elliott serves as Oregon State University’s Vice Provost for Extension and Engagement and Director of the OSU Extension Service, providing leadership for Extension and engagement programs that serve communities in all 36 Oregon counties and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. He works closely with educators, volunteers, community organizations, elected officials, and stakeholders to advance OSU’s land grant mission and create positive impact throughout Oregon.

Since joining Oregon State University in 2017, Dr. Elliott has held several leadership positions within OSU Extension. He led the development and implementation of Oregon’s statewide Outdoor School program, helping expand access to outdoor science education for more than 117,000 students and securing long-term state support for the program. In his current role, he oversees statewide Extension and engagement efforts focused on education, community development, youth leadership, agriculture, natural resources, and family well-being.

Dr. Elliott also serves as principal investigator for a USDA-funded initiative that supports the next generation of research, education, and Extension professionals in agriculture and designates OSU Extension as a National Center of Excellence for Youth Development.

Dr. Elliott earned his Ph.D. in Science Education from Oregon State University and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Agricultural Sciences from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Prior to his work in higher education, he served as a high school agricultural science educator, university faculty member, and public school administrator.

A former 4-H and FFA member, Dr. Elliott credits those experiences with helping shape his passion for education, leadership, and service. As a member of the Oregon 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees, he is committed to ensuring that young people across Oregon have opportunities to develop the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive.
