Clovers for a Cause Celebrates Oregon 4-H Statewide Programs
October 2025
In October 2025, the Oregon 4-H Foundation launched its inaugural Clovers for a Cause campaign, a 10-day online fundraising effort celebrating National 4-H Week and showcasing the wide variety of statewide opportunities available to Oregon youth.
Held October 2-11, the campaign invited donors, alumni, volunteers, families, and community partners to invest in programs that help young people learn, lead, and thrive. While county programs have traditionally been highlighted through Oregon State University's Dam Proud Day campaign, Clovers for a Cause was created to shine a spotlight on the statewide experiences that enrich the lives of more than 19,000 Oregon 4-H youth.
The campaign focused on the 4-H National Events Fund while also highlighting ten additional statewide programs through daily themes, challenge gifts, and special fundraising opportunities.
π 10 Programs. 10 Days. Countless Opportunities.
Throughout the campaign, supporters learned about the many ways Oregon 4-H helps young people explore interests, develop life skills, and prepare for future success. Each day highlighted a different statewide program:
Shooting Sports
Outreach Leadership Institute (OLI)
Wagon Train
State Ambassadors
Camping
Entrepreneurship & Financial Literacy
Animal Science
Oregon State Fair
Expressive Arts
International Programs
Generous challenge gifts from donors and community partners inspired participation and helped maximize the impact of every contribution.
By the close of the campaign, supporters had contributed:
$89,227 raised
136 individual donors
165 gifts received
These gifts will help Oregon youth access educational opportunities, leadership development experiences, civic engagement programs, cultural exchanges, outdoor learning experiences, and hands-on projects that expand their skills and confidence.
π Highlighting National Leadership Opportunities
The centerpiece of the campaign was the 4-H National Events Fund, which helps Oregon youth participate in transformative national leadership experiences, including:
National 4-H Conference
National 4-H Congress
Ignite by 4-H
These opportunities allow young people to engage with peers from across the country while developing leadership, communication, teamwork, civic engagement, and problem-solving skills.
The impact of these experiences extends far beyond a single event. Participants return home with new perspectives, increased confidence, and a stronger commitment to serving their communities. Many go on to assume leadership roles in their local 4-H programs, schools, colleges, and careers.
For many youth, these experiences are life changing, helping them discover their potential while building connections that last a lifetime.
π― Supporting Programs That Meet Youth Where They Are
One of the strengths of Oregon 4-H is the wide variety of pathways available for young people to explore their interests.
Some youth discover confidence through public speaking and leadership programs such as Outreach Leadership Institute (OLI) and State Ambassadors. Others learn responsibility and citizenship through Shooting Sports, Camping, Animal Science, or Wagon Train. Still others find their passion through Expressive Arts, Entrepreneurship, International Programs, or participation at the Oregon State Fair.
Together, these statewide programs provide opportunities for youth to:
Develop leadership and communication skills
Build confidence and independence
Explore career pathways and educational opportunities
Strengthen teamwork and problem-solving abilities
Connect with caring adult mentors
Build friendships with peers across Oregon and beyond
Gain a broader understanding of their communities and the world
By helping youth discover their interests and strengths, these programs prepare young people for success in school, careers, and community life.
𦫠Building a New Tradition
As the Oregon 4-H Foundation's first Clovers for a Cause campaign, the fundraiser demonstrated the power of a statewide community united around a common goal: creating opportunities for Oregon youth.
The campaign was strengthened by generous challenge gift donors, enthusiastic advocates, volunteers, and community partners who shared their stories and encouraged others to participate. Their support helped introduce new donors to Oregon 4-H while increasing awareness of programs that often operate behind the scenes but have a profound impact on participants.
Most importantly, Clovers for a Cause reinforced an important belief shared across the 4-H community: every young person deserves access to meaningful experiences that help them grow, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.
π Thank You for Believing in Oregon Youth
The success of Clovers for a Cause reflects the generosity of donors who believe in the power of 4-H and the potential of Oregon's young people.
Every gift helps create opportunities for youth to learn new skills, discover their passions, serve their communities, and become the next generation of leaders.
As we celebrate the success of this inaugural campaign, we are grateful for every donor, volunteer, advocate, and community partner who helped make it possible. Together, you are helping ensure that Oregon 4-H youth have access to the programs, experiences, and opportunities that will shape brighter futures for years to come.
Thank you for helping Oregon 4-H youth learn, grow, and thrive. π
