Committee Reports
“We had a great Committee on Trustee’s meeting covering several key and timely topics. Our main topic of discussion was around geographic representation of our current trustees and reviewing in a full state overview by county. Overall good representation in key areas with some opportunity in several Eastern Oregon and Coastal portions of the state. We plan to look at opportunities to diversify geographically as we look at new potential trustees.
Another future topic for discussion will be reviewing OSUF Trustee Recruitment Policy and Updating the 4-H one in accordance.
We also conducted a fairly thorough review of potential trustees and built out a priority list of those we will be reaching out to for interest and conversation.
Lastly, we covered upcoming new trustee orientation and football tailgater events in the coming weeks. “

“The Development and External Relations Committee had four items on its agenda September 15th. The first item was reviewing the events for National 4-H Week in which we learned that they will be illuminating the Union Street Railroad bridge in Salem on October 6th. In addition, Oregon State’s Creamery is developing a green, mint chocolate chip ice cream to promote 4-H on campus. Second on the agenda was our new fundraiser for national projects, Clovers for a Cause. We have been able to find challenge grants for each of the separate projects. The fundraiser will run during National 4-H Week. Thirdly, we were updated by OSU Extension that we now have some funding and 4-Hers in every county! Lastly we discussed what we wanted to be included in the new Foundation newsletter. We talked about messages from the 4-H Foundation President, Foundation Director, 4-H Program Director, and 4-H Ambassadors. We also feel it is important to highlight the state’s 4-Hers with photos and stories. In addition, we would like to include links to statewide calendars so volunteers know when events are happening. “

“The Finance Committee meeting was well attended, with productive interaction among the trustees and staff. Patti Novak and Cheryl Cowgill presented the financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, highlighting typical contributions and investment income. The most significant change in this year’s statements was the transactions related to the sale of the 4-H Center. Tiffany Gillis provided an overview of the 4-H Program’s revenue and expenses for the past quarter and year. The committee also reviewed the Administrative Fund Reserve Policy, which was established in 2017, but not approved by the board at that time. The committee has now approved the reserve policy, and it will be presented to the board at the October meeting. The meeting concluded with a brief discussion about the funds being received from the note receivable for the Oregon Outdoor Education Center (OOEC). The committee discussed and supported the eventual formation of a small group to consider the use of the OOEC funds, especially in anticipation of the principal payment expected in 2027. “
